Ria Formosa Park

Twenty-Two degrees today!!!!  Ask me who is happy!!!

After breakfast we headed off, ostensively for the Faro Beach and a long walk in the sand however, as we neared the route heading out to the beach we remembered that we had wanted to take a walk on the newly constructed boardwalk just to the north of the beach along a large section of the Ria Formosa Park and so, we did!   Not at all disappointed.

By the time we had completed the walk we had clocked in 8.1 kms, which is not bad at all.  The path is either boardwalk (wood) or tightly pressed clay.  In any case, it was certainly easy for the feet and turned out to be quite beautiful.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the walk but by the end, were ravenous.  The sunshine and the smell of the sea combined with the length of the trail had built up an appetite.  With that we headed home to make lunch and then simply hang out at the quinta for the afternoon.  I’m deep in a good book!!!!

And an old abandoned building we passed this morning that invited us to stop and walk around.

    1. Funny you should say that. I have a memory of doing part of that walk with you but Marc tells me “no”. Obviously he is right. We sure do think of you every day and wish you were here. You’re partially responsible for my side road curiosity!

  2. Looks wonderful and the birds, a bonus. You are being good boys going home for lunch instead of sitting in one of those wonderful restaurants! I am listening to Leonard Cohen’s new e-album for thé third time. Gorgeous, full of messages.

  4. Loved all the pictures of the birds today, especially the Eurasian coots. It was a very peaceful read!

    1. Thanks Joanie. There were many of them and unlike most of the birds here they didn’t seem shy and fly off the moment you stopped to look at them. Fabulous and easy walk.

  5. You captured some fabulous shots today! Sadly, the day I walked the Ria Formosa Park was birdless, except for the ‘old coot’ following behind Pat and Gary! LOL!

    1. This is not the same trail you walked, the others side of Faro, near the beach. Not sure what old coot you are referencing? You would probably enjoy this particular trail as it’s fairly level.
