For the last three Christmas mornings, we have headed off to Armação de Pêra, about 45 minutes from here, to enjoy watching the Santa Swim, which is organized to raise money for various charities. It’s festive, colourful, and the beach area is gorgeous. Marc and I had decided to skip it this year but with the surprise arrival of Chloe and Jasmine, we decided we would go.
La belle Jasmine
Chloe, Marc and Jasmine enjoying the company and the view.
Santa comes in all shapes and forms.
Rock formations on the beach.
Uncle and niece, we enjoyed a lovely walk along the beach in the warm sunshine.
Jasmine and me. We ditched the shoes as soon as we hit the sand.
Paparazzi in action
Two grumpy looking Santa’s. Probably got sand in their shorts!
This little yapper was quite happy to be around so many people and other dogs.
Waiting to run into the cold sea.
Making new friends on the beach.
One party pooper
This older man was in swimming and trying to coax his grandson to join him…which he did eventually.
After a lovely walk on the beach we found a seaside patio and sat enjoying beverages and watched from a distance.
Thee lovely beach at Armação de Pêra.
Getting ready to run in….what a lot of fun noise it was.
He finally got his grandson in then they headed to the patio for a beverage….probably hot! o
She was too funny. I missed the moment where the wave smacked her in the ass and she nearly fell over.
Paddle board Santa.
They were all shaking off like dogs
This fellow looks as if he can’t believe he actually participated in this event.
Papa and son chasing waves.
Marc enjoying the festivities from a distance.
Man’s best friend.
Another rock formation.
The day was splendid. The sunshine was strong and warm and we are still soaking it in following our rainy week. We decided to stop at Porches on our way home to allow Jasmine to see another wonderful Algarvian beach. They are only with us for five days and she can’t see it all but she will get to see quite a bit.
This man was fishing from the top of the cliffs and the gull actually took food from his hand.
Crazy birds but still, they are lovely to look at.
I love the detail in the eyes and the bill.
A lovely woman offered to take our photo and made us all remove our sunglasses!!!
People can be so silly in terms of needing to leave a part of themselves somewhere
Once we returned home I got the turkey ready for the oven then Chloe, Jasmine and myself headed off for what turned out to be a 1.5 hour walk. Marc sat on our upstairs terrace to enjoy painting and creating for a bit and when we returned home he had titivated the dining room table and it was quite beautiful…..sorry, no photos.
Dinner with Harald, Bela and us four was sublime……….what a wonderful Christmas Day 2019. Merry Christmas from all of us to you.
