Hump Day in Paradise

Not much to report today but I thought a brief note with a few photos would be a good thing. I want to say that I truly appreciate all the comments and private messages I receive in relationship to my blog/diary. It’s all quite encouraging. Merci/Thank You/Obrigado/Danka.

Marc chose to have another day at home recuperating and pottering around. He always has a list of things he wants to do and enjoys the solitude. We other four hooligans headed off to São Miguel , the mountain, not the island, and specifically the trail trilho das águias (trail of eagles), a bit more challenging than the normal mountain biking trail. Another wonderful outing.

We had decided to head into Moncarapacho and enjoy lunch on the square. Always a grand idea!

I have been in and out of Moncarapacho countless times over the years. I’ve wandered up and down every conceivable street there is and yet today I stumbled on a tiny 18th century church right on one of the streets I’ve walked on many times and had never noticed before. This is one of the things I love about coming back to places.

And finally, at the tail end of our hike today I happened to notice a shade of green poking out behind a bush that was sitting on the front lawn/property of a house that didn’t seem to be occupied at the moment so, I wandered into the garden to have a look. What a surprise!

A bagpipe playing statue in the middle of nowhere!!!

  2. Well Randy didn’t hear us panting going up the hill because he was way in front. And then the lunch was so yummy delicious, nothing but satisfied moans of delight.

  4. Hump Day In Paradise!!! I haven’t laughed so hard in ages – took a mouthful of Sagres before I read this and it spewed out of my nose. Obviously has a different conotation in Canada. ha ha ha. p.s. the little church you have just noticed is more like a museum and before the virus you could enter at certain times for a wee fee. Years ago you could collect the key from the main church. Hope ma Marcy Marc gets well soon. Big hugs.

    1. Hello there. I looked for you online today but no luck. Yes, delicious food and always enjoyable to sit outside and eat. The bagpipe statue was quite the surprise. I’d love to know the history behind it.

  7. Greetings from chilly Lakeview Heights where we awoke to a -33C wind chill. In keeping with the cold Canada theme… I would suggest that the comments on your blog is the tip of the iceberg. I don’t comment often but appreciate you sharing your Estoi experience with everyone as I am sure do many others. Take care! Gord
