Here we are at the end of yet another glorious Algarvian weekend! Total sunshine, warmth, and time disappears quickly for us as we are always on the trot with one thing or another.
One of the things we did yesterday was to head to the Faro Beach to have a look at the waves as we had endured heavy winds the night before, that actually kept us up a large part of the night. We had read that the waves were expected to be amazing, and they were correct. It was a worthwhile side trip.

We had Pat and Gary over for dinner last night which included an evening of games and a sleep over! Our plan was to head off to São Brás after breakfast Sunday morning to wander around a market that P&G had been told about. It turned out to be more of a flea market but nonetheless, we had a great time hanging out together an wandering around. São Brás is a lovely little town and only about 9 km north of us, in the mountains.

My companions “window” shopping, although there did end up being a couple of real purchases.

One of our trips we like to make a couple of times while here is high in the mountains above Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo to the small monte of Bemparce. There is a restaurant there, Cantinho da Serra, that we not only love for the food but more importantly, the views. Sadly the patio was totally reserved but we did enjoy a short walk about before heading off to find another place to eat.

We ended up at O Constantino in Santa Catarina and the food was fabulous. Joanne and Marc enjoyed roasted javali (wild boar)

Pat and Gary both had javali ensopado (boar stew)

I know it looks a bit the same but it wasn’t in taste, and I know that as they both happily shared a little with me. I had ordered galo assado (roasted rooster) but sadly, no photo. There was confusion between our waiter and the kitchen and my dish did not initially get ordered. By the time the confusion was cleared up all my dining companions had finished…..hence the morsels of javali that had come my way…….I was ravenous and devoured my food without thinking of photos. Scrumptious was the unanimous decision related to all our plates.

We had decided to go elsewhere to enjoy a bica and for those that wished, something sweet….

What a day. By the time we arrived back home it was late afternoon and truly, with the food, the sun, the exercise, and from the later than usual night, we were all sufficiently pooped and contented to simply crash for the balance of the day. Life as we know it is simply grand.
My photo of the day……..it might smell but it is sublimely gorgeous.

It was amazing!! And tomorrow, a hike along a section of the Algarvian shores.

Yes, we appreciate every moment we have here especially having missed it last year. It’s a beautiful country and still unspoiled in so many ways. Having access to the great outdoors has been nurturing our souls and recharging our batteries. Thanks for following. Hello to all and hugs from this end.

What a great day! I really enjoyed ‘walking along with you’ ….it made me smile! Everyone looks so happy! Just curious…was there a crazy woman singing her heart out on the Faro Beach? LOL!!! Looks like you lucked out on your choice of restaurants…everyone’s lunches were mouthwatering! I am sure yours was too. Another perfect day in the Algarve!

For some reason we have not seen a single crazy lady singing their heart out on any beach or near our swimming pool! Go figure!!
