Changing Plans

After all my hiking pals bailed on me this morning, I had to come up with a new plan for the day and Marc came to the rescue by offering to go with me for a lengthy walk on the boardwalk at Altura. Altura itself is pretty non-descript however the boardwalk goes for a fair distance in both directions, actually in more than two if you count all the side entrances from various points along the shoreline. In any case, it wasn’t the Rocha da Pena but it was still enjoyable.

We both quite enjoyed our time on the beach and again on the various boardwalks. None of the restaurants directly on the sea were opened, I’m guessing it’s more a tourist thing or perhaps weekends. We did head into the town itself to try and find a pastelaria but nothing really caught our fancy and as we weren’t that far from home, we decided to head back for lunch and our own coffee.

After lunch we headed back into Moncarapacho to try one more time at the Monterosa Olive Oil Farm. Success. We made our purchases and then enjoyed strolling all around the property, which is delightful. In years past they had a small counter at the local factory where you could purchase their oils but now they have a complete “loja” where you can purchase products and also, if you have a hankering, participate in the factory tour. We skipped the tour but not the property.

As you can see from those last few photos, the sky cleared, the sun was blazing, and it actually went up to 23,5 degrees. Finally the sands are gone from the sky for another year.

We stopped to run a couple of errands on the way home and are now safely tucked away for the balance of our day, well if truth be known, it’s just after 17h00 so…….Cinq à sept must be respected as it’s Marc’s heritage!!!!! In closing, a closeup of the sea lavender.

Céu azul, nada além de azul!!
