This morning I sent Debbie and Fred a quick note: “how about an easy walk this morning? I can pick you up at 10?” Boy, am I now eating crow at those words.
By the end of our “there and back” walk, no loops for us today, we had clocked in at 18,75 km and a total of 25,244 steps. I’m not sure they’re ever going to speak to me again!!!

Truly, I’m not sure where my brain went when I suggested the walk on what turned out to be a 22 degree day with a cloudless sky but as I said to them as we dragged our tired butts back to the car, I have no regrets!! LOL I loved every moment of it, as did they I believe.
I had driven the car and parked at the small fishing village of Arroteia and we walked a series of small trails along the sea, up towards the town of Livramento then across to Luz da Tavira and then, along a series of paths till we finally wound our way across the foot bridge to Barril Beach! While there we enjoyed a lunch then reversed and walked back the same route.

For the most part the paths were in pretty good shape although in places, complete washout from the recent storms plus the small streams and gutters were raging with water. It simply doesn’t seem to want to dissapate.

The beach itself was busy and the sea sparkling. We didn’t stay there long as by this point we were pooped, hungry, and needed to sit for a bit, especially knowing we had to walk all the way back!

At this point we all had a bit of a second wind and we were still about half an hour from our vehicle. Thankfully we are all in relatively good shape, had water in our backpacks, and took advantage of any shade spots we could along the trail.

And today……my first freesia, which always makes me think of my sister, JoAnn, as she loves it. So sister, this ones for you.

And my favourite shot of the day………..as we were heading that final lap down to the car…….ahead of me……

Isn’t love just grand?
So much to see, hear and smell. The return walk seemed much quicker after linch. It was a great day, we both enjoyed it immensely.
Well, rest up. The best is yet to come.
Sounds as if you’ve met your match. Lovely area.
Or vice versa!! LOL
Randy,
Thanks for including that last photo. We can’t have too many reminders of the love that’s around us.
Andrea
I couldn’t agree more.
Such a gorgeous day for a hike! The blue sky, the blue sea, the lush greenery, the vibrant colours of the familiar flowers made my Portuguese coffee taste all that much better!
Yes, all of those factors would make anything taste better….LOL. We sure consider ourselves blessed.
What a lovely day you had. My goodness that picture of the beach and the water is absolutely gorgeous. The sun reflecting off the water, amazing.
It was a bit of a shame that it was followed by that nasty Pizza! LMAO sweet mother, covered in everything I dislike. There is no accounting for taste. LOL
The freesia!! Oh my goodness I wish I were there to stick my nose into it and breathe it in. I’m sure Beverly would feel the same way.
I love the gates with the fish on them. The last picture was truly lovely. I love to see older people walking hand in hand like that.
I have no idea how you guys can walk so far in one go. It’s fantastic and I’m so glad that you can do it and you’re enjoying yourself doing it, I would be flat out in the middle of a trail somewhere and help would have to be called to come lift me out. LOL
Keep on enjoying yourselves. Love and hugs.
Yes, the beach, the freesia, even my wonderful pizza, all perfect. LOL I can’t tell you how much I enjoy these walks, you see so much more than if you were in a car, or even on a bicycle.
