Quiet on the Western Front

An early rise to take Wendy and Norm to the airport followed by a day of domesticity! That about sums up our day.

I was out on the terrace at 6 a.m. listening to the cacophonous melody created by the countless roosters that pepper the valley below us, and watching the sun rise. I don’t know where my head was but I was so enraptured in the beauty of it all, I completely forgot to take a photo!

The ride to and from the airport was easy as the traffic was minimal at that hour, and I later saw on the website that the flight actually left 7 minutes early. Good for Wendy and Norm.

I had thrown on a load of laundry before leaving the house and by mid morning I had three loads completed and drying in the sunshine, not to mention a lovely warm breeze. As it is frequently when guests leave, we feel the quietness and miss the energy which ends up being reflected in our day. I curled up outside to read and eventually headed down the hill for a walk. Marc, who has come down with a cold, slept most of the day.

I simply could not believe the number of wildflowers, especially orchids, I found on our little street.

It’s still only early afternoon and I’m heading back outside to read a little and who knows, maybe even enjoy a little snooze in the sunshine. Tomorrow I’m heading out for a hike, a repeat trail where I like to return to eek out the Lavandula viridis (green lavender), which I’m hoping is out by now.

And speaking of green…….pistachio cheesecake (twas quite a hit last evening)

  1. Wonderful to have guests and then I get it can be a void . That cheesecake looks amazing. Reminiscent of a Japanese cheesecake I’ve tried recently.

    1. I didn’t have any of it but it garnered many happy sounds from the rest of the table!!

  2. Can you bring home some of that pistachio cheesecake?

  3. I see we took some of the same flower pictures today. Sounds like you had a recharge kind of day and will be in top hiking form tomorrow. Hope Marc is on the mend soon. Could you bring a piece of that cheesecake with you tomorrow 😉

    1. LOL, that cheesecake was at the restaurant Fiel……..I think there is another piece in Marc’s future!! See you in the morning.

  4. Good to have a day to recoup…a day without driving would be a bonus!
What a sea of orchids, very beautiful! Nature continually surprising us with her magic!

    1. Happily I don’t mind the driving, although yes, a day without might be a real treat.
