Twas a Shorebird Kinda Day

Cori, Ella, and Debbie…..three generations of active, energetic, and lovely women with whom I had the pleasure of an “almost” 12 km hike along this Ludo trail this morning. According to my FitBit, 2 hours 46 minutes and 24 seconds, 11,79 km, and 15,938 steps. From my perspective, having been totally out of it for the last several days, this was a dream come true.

Ludo Trail is a 7-kilometre circular route. It takes 2 hours to complete it. On the official map (that you can see at the start), the hike is not a circular route but rather a group of linear trails. In order to complete it, you have to walk to and back the same way. If you do so the total distance of the route is around 13 km, which is what we did.

It’s a flat gravel road with no hills and then a wooden boardwalk, wide and solid.  The scenery on Ludo Trail is truly diverse marsh land, forests, and saltflats. Very diverse and a real paradise for bird lovers……..just have a look. We also saw a spoonbill but I forgot to take a photo.

The flora was also in abundance, especially the lovely blue narrow leafed lupin, and today I spotted a small bush of minature white lupins!

We walked the entire path out to the final boardwalk at the Praia do Ancão then took off shoes and socks and walked back along the sea until we returned to the first boardwalk, at the Quinta do Lago bridge, a little sit, drying feet and getting socks and shoes back on then back to the official trail and onwards to the car. I loved every moment of it especially as the temperature and breeze combination was just right for a walk of this nature.

My body and soul is happy to have (literally) been back on track. Great company, perfect weather, and now I feel recharged.

p.s. No Fred today, apparently I inadvertently shared my bug with him. I hope he’s still speaking to me!!!
