Today was a day of immense blue sky, warm shimmering sun, and the only thing on our agenda was to hang out with friends and breath it all in! I don’t like to use the word “perfect” because really, nothing truly is but, today felt perfect!
After a morning errand (to the airport and back) Marc and I packed the car and headed to our friends Carole and André where we were participating in a late lunch/early dinner as a surprise for Daniel, whose birthday it is today. What fun it all was and how wonderful to simply bask in the company of good friends, with amazing food, and much laughter, in such a pleasurable environment.
Marc had prepared a wonderful dish that our friend Oneta had recently served us………it was delicious. Honey roasted tomatoes on whipped feta!! (I forgot to take a photo)
Carole prepared roasted duck breast with a coffee sauce served beside squash “fries” and broad beans.
In between the “jigs and reels” we wandered around the property, relaxed by the pool, drank lovely white port with tonic and oranges off their trees, and basically hung out.
For dessert Marc made an orange cake and maple syrup mousse…….again, no photo but they did everything but lick the bowl. Actually I think Carole might have licked it in the kitchen when she took the dishes away!!

LOL oh my goodness! That place is certainly Charming. Eclectic is definitely a word that can be used for it. What character it has. Of course I may need a switch on the back of my neck to turn it all off when I really needed to relax. LOL the fact that it also comes with five cats is pretty ‘out there.’
I find the outside space truly lovely and cozy as well.

Daniel definitely had a birthday to remember! Simply splendid! Celebrated in sunshine, a feast to behold and dear friends! And alcohol…yummy drinks! Port and tonic with slices of oranges, one of my favourites!
I agree Carole and Andre’s home is eclectic but I dare say, I would consider it a museum! Marc’s video certainly highlighted some of the eccentric treasures, creative art, amusing ‘stuff’…a lot of stuff! The outside is gorgeous, very inviting, so pretty and definitely ensures a great dining experience! I agree, a perfect day, if perfect exists!
Yes, Marc’s videos add a new element to my blog that I quite enjoy. It gives people a birds eye view, and a feeling of being along for the ride, that folks are really enjoying.
