Playing Tour Guides

Marc and I are pretty pickled that our friends, Wendy and Norm, decided to come from Canada for a week long visit with us, their first time in Portugal, and have allowed us to act as personal tour guides. It’s motivated us to put together an itinerary highlighting things that we enjoy and “show it all off” in hopes that will encourage them to come back another time, and perhaps for more than just one week.

The weather forecast was advising us of 90% change of heavy precipitation but as luck would have it, the weatherman fibbed once again!! It turned out to be a beautiful day, the temperature hit 20,5 degrees and despite an overnight flight that afforded them minimal sleep, we haven’t stopped all day.

We headed into Fuzeta for a wonderful walk about, coffee on a terrace, and an exploration of the old church, cemetery, and up and down several streets admiring the tiles and gardens. From there, a stop at Arrotia, Pinheiro, and finally back up through the mountains into Estoi and an exploration of the Pousada gardens.

What an incredible first day it’s been and how much fun to see the things we love through new eyes. It’s going to be a full week, but if today is any indication, a grand one!
