Once upon a time I considered myself quite attentive, on the ball, and usually, one step ahead of most things. I’ve come to realize, and accept (even more important), that I’m not as quick as I used to be, which is ok. The latest thing I’ve realized that brings that to the forefront of my brain……..we have lived here in SĂ£o BrĂ¡s de Alportel since January 02nd. We know that we are “roughly” half an hour from Tavira, half an hour from OlhĂ£o, and fifteen minutes to LoulĂ©.
Why then, with that knowledge, did it never cross our minds to go to Loulé and check out the grocery shopping until today??? Truly, we are looking at each other today shaking our heads in bewilderment as to the fact that neither of us thought about it until I did last night.
Turns out that from our door to the parking of the Continente in LoulĂ©, which is huge and happily for us offers the same low prices that our favourite in OlhĂ£o offers, is exactly 16 minutes!!!!! As my heading states, better late than never!!
An exploration of the store and prices, a quick shop, then off to enjoy a bica at a favourite pastelaria, Padaria Campina, then some time exploring an area we had never been. Another favourite pastime.

On the way home I decided to stop and take a photo of a place that I’ve admired for years but have never before photographed. Looking at it close up, as opposed to while passing by the car, made me love it even more. Oh to be able to knock on the door and ask for a tour. Another day perhaps!

Well Randy welcome to the “brain is getting older” club! Don’t worry, when you start forgetting things such as glasses, wallet, shoes instead of slippers, then worry!
Love the colours on homes and garden benches!
LOL, I appreciate you commiserating with me!!
Sometimes, the most simple, common sense ideas/solutions elude us. Partly because we are getting older, and we are creatures of habit, or our brains are just too full of ‘stuff’ that we can’t possibly put another thought in it. OR, THEY ARE BLONDE! đŸ˜‚đŸ¤ª
Well, in my case, it could be a bit of all the above!!
We are creatures of habit… if you are longing for british food, the Food Co. Store in Almancil is just 10 minutes from Continente in Loulé
Been there and loved it. Can’t go anymore as Marc cannot resist the shortbread!!!
