Not all hikes are “keepers” and todays was one of those that is definitely not. I had specifically wanted to go and do this particular path as I was hoping to find what would turn out to help create a “loop” from one of the hikes I did earlier in the trip.

I won’t be attempting this again, or suggesting that any of my constant hiking buddies take it on. It was a trail that, although well marked was clearly not used with any frequency, the path overgrown and brambles in places, and the worse part, aggressive dogs, either already outside fences or somehow managed to get out! My doggie treats were not at all interesting to them although one of them got glazed eyes when he saw Debbie!!!

Finally, when we arrived at a junction and had choices, Fred pulled out his GPS and fingured out a couple of alternative routes and off we went. It was a much better choice in the end but, that said, I love all these hikes for the exploration, the adventure, and the knowledge that we get from having taken them.

Debbie, Fred, and I have already agreed on another walk for tomorrow morning, an easy stroll, but one we’ve not yet walked. You’ll have to stay tuned for that.

Once home, Marc and I decided to be spontaneous and headed off to Tavira to run a couple of errands then wind our way to Flor dos Cavacos for a final fish lunch in a place we know and love. We weren’t at all disappointed.
On route we stopped in  Santa Margarida near Tavira as there was an old church we had passed a few times and we were wanting a closer look. It was really quite lovely and as always, something to surprise us.

We didn’t spend a great deal of time in Tavira, ran our errands then headed off for the restaurant as by now it was 13h00 and we were both fairly hungry. When we arrived at the Flor does Cavacos we were treated like long lost friends, a table cleared for us on the terrace, suggestions for what we might want to eat, and a lovely visit with the owners at the end of say goodbye till next year. It really instilled in us that time is almost up!

And finally today, there is this old property I’ve been noticing for two years now. Each time I drive past, I want to stop but I never do. Today I decided it was now or never and although it’s not really all that special, for some reason it stirs something in me. With that said, I think you might imagine my laughter when I saw the mailbox….perhaps this is what was calling out to me?

The quirkiness of it all ticked me and had me laughing the rest of the drive home. Maybe you had to be there……and I was!!!!
You got some great photos. Love the mailbox, someone has a sense of humour. We were also in Tavira today …. so many tourists! Lunch looks delicious. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s walk and I agree, today’s doesn’t need to be repeated but it was nice to be out nevertheless.
That’s too funny, we could have bumped into each other. We had a bit of a time finding parking. Me too, looking forward to tomorrow’s choice
I’m Still enjoying your vacation! Love every word and photo. Happiness sure looks great on both you and Marc. See you tomorrow.
How sweet are you? Love and Hugs
We are certainly going to miss your blogs. After so many previous trips, I easily become transported and feel as if I’m tagging along.
I love that…..the hike we did today was what I hoped would form a lovely loop from the one that is close to your place next year but, it won’t work, which is a bummer. I love that I can transport you, gives me ideas!!
The hike might not have been on your top 10 list, but the views from it certainly would have been. That’s the first picture of your Panda that I’ve seen. It’s a cute little car.
I can see why you would be chuckling on your way home over the mailbox and it’s add-ons. LOL and that shoe! WTH! LMAO
Lunch looked great, especially yours.
I hate that you have to come back. LOL I love that you have such a great lifestyle over there and the rest of us here get to benefit from it as well.
The food at that restaurant is always fabulous, as is the overall experience. We’ve gotten to know the owners over the past two years and they are both very nice folks, It always feels like more than “just lunch”. Yes, that mailbox had me chuckling. I wondered it that was what had been calling out to me this past two year. And if it was, I wonder why???
Another great read, full of terrific photos that tell a story in one way or another, by Nature, humankind or days gone by, sometimes very evident, open for interpretation or the imagination of the reader. Portugal’s flora and landscapes are so lovely, and so many of your photos tell a story which I love. And your red car rocks!
Another delicious lunch at one of your favourite places, you and Marc are very loyal customers to so many wonderful restaurants!
There is quirkiness and then there is uniqueness…what an interesting find in the house with the witches, cauldron, bat, etc…and the shoe! I hope the shoe is not a sign of someone stumbling on the place never to be seen again! LOL!
My favourite two photos? You and Marc, beautiful!đŸ¤—
I know exactly which two photos you love the most……Miss Predictable. LOL I love that you are able to see the stories in my photos as they are always there for me. I love how my blogs unfold and more or less write themselves just from the photos. I’m going to miss writing it, and off course all the feedback.
