A Snail’s Pace

Marc and I both seem to have shifted into the same place with our energy. We woke up this morning and neither of us had any!!!!! We more or less looked at each other and said, “let’s just have a slow day”.

After breakfast I headed down to the garbage and recycle and was delighted to stumble upon a small hill, one I walk past all the time, that today was covered in the lovely purple bee orchids and a smattering of other flora. Of course I always have my trusty Canon camera with me and and so…..

Coming back up a different route, a short cut stairway that I don’t always take, I came upon this wonderful display of blood red roses.

Marc proposed that we wander over to São Brás and enjoy some time with coffee on the main square. We haven’t done that as much this year as we had hoped to do, which made it an easy yes from me. We both quite enjoyed it, from a relaxing and people watching perspective. Truly was lovely.

We’ve started our packing and organizing for the return voyage and have one suitcase (we have two) completely packed, locked, and ready to go. We’ve dropped off a couple of bags to the Portuguese version of the Goodwill and will probably have one more by the time we are finished. It’s so beautiful outside we decided that rather than continue, let’s head to Olhão, have lunch, then wander a bit as we were meeting friends later for a drink beside the sea.

We ended up in a wonderful find (for us), a small tapas bar called N24, we’ve probably walked past it a dozen or more times over the year and never really tuned it in. In any case, the owner is form Cape Verde, Africa (where both Marc and I have visited). He was delightful and our food too was stupendous. We will return.

When we arrived there were two tables for two available however at one of them a lovely tabby cat was curled up asleep on one of the chairs. The owner decided that that was where we should sit so he picked up the chair, moved it, cat and all, who did not even open an eye, and changed chairs for me. When Marc and I had finished our meal and stood to go, the cat, whom had not moved or opened it’s eyes the entire time, got up, stretched, then jumped up in my warm chair, curled into a ball and went right back to sleep. Everybody on the patio, including the owner, had quite a chuckle.

From there we headed for a walk along the sea and then met up with Ana and Paolo for a farewell visit/drink. It’s difficult to say our goodbyes but we all know we’ll be back so it’s mais ou menos, até breve!

An easy pace. A snail’s pace. For us, a fabulous day. Tomorrow will hopefully include another small hike, although it’s getting a bit to hot for them right now unless we can get at them earlier in the day……that’s our goal. A bit more organizing and hey, we still have six days to enjoy every moment of our paradise so, until tomorrow…. Vejo-te então!

In closing, this made me giggle today…….
